Racing League chooses ethanol as official fuel
(March 2005)
On March
3 at Union Station on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.,
officials from the Indy Racing League and the ethanol industry
announced that beginning with the 2006 racing season, Indy
Racing League IndyCar® Series will be fueled with a
blend of 10% ethanol and 90% methanol. Beginning with the
2007 racing season, all cars will be fueled with 100% ethanol.
The use of ethanol to power the high-profile IndyCar®
Series will showcase ethanol as the high-octane performance
fuel of choice.
